Easy-Aging Awarded EnvisAGE Grant to Advance Technology-Supported Aging in Place

We are proud to share that Easy-Aging has been awarded a prestigious project grant from EnvisAGE to advance the systematic use of personalized technology packages that support aging in place.

This initiative, delivered in partnership with MIRA and Thriving.ai, will allow us to collaborate with community organizations including Guelph Wellington Seniors Association and Schlegel Villages to identify older adults who can benefit most from thoughtfully integrated technology solutions.

Why This Matters

Over 90% of Canadians express a desire to age in the comfort of their own homes. Yet as health needs evolve, remaining safe, connected, and independent can become increasingly complex and costly. While there are many powerful technologies available—from safety monitoring to cognitive support and social engagement tools—most older adults and their families lack the guidance and support needed to select, install, and effectively use them.

This project is designed to close that gap.

What the Grant Will Support

As part of this initiative, Easy-Aging will:

  • Host community focus groups to better understand barriers, preferences, and lived experiences related to aging in place.

  • Recruit older adults for a six-month subsidized pilot program.

  • Design and deploy personalized technology packages tailored to individual needs.

  • Provide full installation, onboarding, and ongoing support.

  • Evaluate outcomes related to safety, independence, caregiver peace of mind, and overall quality of life.

The six-month pilot will allow us to assess the effectiveness of structured technology integration in real-world home environments. Findings from this phase will directly inform the next stage of development and broader implementation.

Preparing for the Next Stage

This grant represents an important step toward building an evidence-informed, scalable model for technology-enabled aging in place. By combining personalized assessment, curated solutions, and hands-on support, we aim to demonstrate that technology—when implemented systematically—can meaningfully extend independence and reduce strain on families and the healthcare system.

Interested in Participating?

We will soon begin recruiting older adults who are interested in participating in the six-month subsidized pilot. If you or someone you care about would like to learn more, please contact us at info@easyaging.ca.

We are grateful to EnvisAGE and our partners for their support and look forward to sharing updates as the project progresses.
